Dear Faculty and Graduate Students:
Don't forget to mark your calendars for the
2016 EGSA Student Symposium, Border Crossings!
Friday, February 12th from
9 AM- 6:30 PM
This year's symposium features a cross-disciplinary smorgasbord of border crossings, from Historical and Economic exchanges to Crip/Queer crossings, Genre and Intertextual blending, and the power dynamics of crossings within Gender, Race, and Place.
The culmination of the event will be a keynote presentation by University of Illinois's Mimi Thi Nguyen, Associate Professor of Gender and Womens Studies and Asian American Studies. She is the author of The Gift of Freedom: War, Debt, and Other Refugee Passages (2012) as well as many other academic articles as well as a number of feminist and punk zines.
This event will NOT be hosted on the sixth floor English Department, but rather, on the first floor of the library, Gelman 219. Please drop by and join us for coffee, lunch and snacks, sit in on our fantastic graduate student panels, and sit in on Mimi's guest presentation.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, email Liz Moser at firstname.lastname@example.org .
The annual EGSA symposium is, as always, free and open to the public. Circulate this widely amongst your peers, colleagues and students.
We hope to see you there!
